The agreement.

You may install and use Halopen on Macs you own or control. While your subscription is active, you may use Halopen freely on those Macs. We’ll do our best to keep Halopen running, accurate, and improving.

Halopen is offered as a subscription, billed monthly or annually. The first 14 days are free; we don’t ask for a card to start. After the trial, your chosen plan begins on the date you sign up. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.

If you cancel, you keep Pro features through the end of the period you paid for. After that, the app reverts to a trial-expired state. None of your settings are deleted.

If you have used Halopen for less than a week of paid time and want a refund, email hello@halopen.com and we’ll refund your most recent charge. We’d rather have a happy ex-customer than an unhappy one.

Don’t use Halopen to do anything illegal, violate other people’s privacy, or distribute material that you don’t have the rights to. Don’t reverse-engineer the app to extract our API keys or build a competing product on top of our infrastructure. That’s about it.

Halopen is provided as-is. We work hard to make it good, and we ship updates regularly, but we can’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or perfect. Transcription quality depends on your microphone, your environment, and the third-party speech models we route to.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for anything related to Halopen is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months.

Our privacy policy describes everything Halopen collects, where it goes, and how long it stays. That document is part of this agreement.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we change anything material, we’ll email subscribers before the change takes effect. Continued use of Halopen after a change means you accept the updated terms.

You may stop using Halopen and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms. We’ll let you know why, and we’ll refund any unused time on a paid plan.

Halopen is a product of Meria LLC, a United States limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Meria LLC is registered. Disputes we cannot resolve in conversation will be handled by binding arbitration in that state, except where applicable law requires court adjudication.
